MULTITANK AUTOMATION SYSTEMS

MULTITANK AUTOMATION SYSTEMS

When a single Underground tank supplies water to multiple overhead tanks, water supply can be automated using our Multi-tank Automation System

Overhead tanks can empty out at different times during the day and should be filled accordingly. A single pump system can be used to automatically supply water to any and all overhead tanks as and when they get empty

The Multi-tank Automation System consists of the:

  • Automatic Pump System
  • Overhead Tank Controlling System

Sequence of Operation

  • A single pump system is installed at the Domestic & Flushing Underground Storage Tanks respectively
  • This pump system pumps water from its Underground storage tank to all the overhead tanks through the main riser pipe
  • The Overhead tank controlling system consisting of an Electrically actuated valve, a Float switch and a Valve control box; is installed at each of the overhead tanks (Domestic & Flushing)
  • When all tanks are FULL, the valves are closed and the main riser pipe is completely pressurized
  • When one or more tanks are empty, the Float switch drops to the LOW level and based on this feedback, the Valve control box opens the Valve
  • This causes a drop in pressure in the water line and when the pressure drops below the pressure setpoint, the Control Panel turns on the pumps based on the number of overhead tank that are empty
  • If one of the overhead tanks is FULL, then the Float switch reaches the HIGH level and the Valve control box closes the Valve, while other empty tanks are still being filled

COMPONENTS

Automatic Pump System (Hydro-pneumatic System)

Automatic Pump System is a Hydro-pneumatic pump system that starts when any or all of the overhead tanks get empty. The pump system stops when all tanks are full, thus saving water and preventing overflow. Automatic pump systems can be of the following types:

  • Variable Speed Pump Systems
  • Fixed Speed Pump Systems

Automatic pump systems can have any of the following type of pumps:

  • Vertical Multistage Pumps
  • Borewell Submersible Pumps
  • Openwell Submersible Pumps
  • Monoblock Pumps

Overhead Tank Controlling System

The VALVE CONTROL BOX takes feedback from the float switch and operates the valve

  • When the overhead tank is empty, the float switch sends a LOW level feedback to the Valve control box
  • At this point the Valve control box opens the valve and allows the water to flow to that particular tank
  • When the overhead tank is full, the float switch sends a HIGH level feedback to the Valve control box
  • At this point the Valve control box closes the valve and stops the water to flow to that particular tank and prevent it from overflowing

ELECTRICALLY ACTUATED VALVES are selected based on the pipe size and the type of application:

ELECTRICALLY ACTUATED BUTTERFLY VALVE

  • Sizes = 40MM to 200 MM
  • MOC = Cast iron
  • Disc = SGI / SS
  • Pressure = PN10/PN16/PN25/PN40

PGV SOLENOID VALVE

  • Sizes = 25MM to 50 MM
  • MOC = Engineered Plastic
  • Pressure = Upto 12 Bar
  • Gradual closing valve

FLOAT SWITCH

  • Cable Length = 3 Mtrs / 5 Mtrs
  • MOC = Plastic

ULTRASONIC LEVEL TRANSMITTER

  • Range = Up to 10 Mtrs

PRESSURE ZONE

  • Pressure switch
  • Pressure gauge
  • Surge arrestor
  • Isolation valve
